Hello, I am also new to the boards . I think this a great thread. I am excited for Faire 2010. We go every year at least six weekends and have made it a big family event. Look forward to meeting new people and seeing old faces.

Rather than staring a new thread, I figured I would just post here.
I am new to the board, but no new to faire. I live in Howard county (so not too far away) and have tried (and failed) to meet some of you at the tobacco shop in Elkridge. I frequent DuClaw during the off-season.
I am getting my faire season started this coming weekend at Sterling (not the Tuxedo, Sterling forest, but upstate Sterling.
I am looking forward to meeting you all (I should be there opening day around 9) and burning a leaf or two with the OBL, and having some ale and bee-stings with DORT.
I am interested to know from the membership, your thoughts on the entertainment line-up this year. I am looking forward to the faire, but I must say that I am a little disappointing that some of my favorite acts will not be there this year: Mediaeval Baebes, Wolgemut, Albannach, Cercamon, and Hey Nunnie Nunnie.

See you in a couple of weeks!
well, being that many of them are very much in demand, scheduling is LIKELY the primary reason they're not in this year (SO many faires with overlap......), but some other acts are exceptional...wine and alchemy being the best among the new ones.....brother is really good too....keep in mind, gypsophilia (regulars at faire, tho occasionally limited run) are AMAAAAAAZING and under-appreciated....so you may want to seek them out .......the faire has an uncanny knack for finding amazing talent.....
welcome to the boards, and mayhap will see you in revel grove in a matter of weeks

Thank you, Ruta, I didn't know Wine & Alchemy was going to be here. I loved E Muzeki and was really sad when they broke up, so I'm glad to see Mark bringing his new project to MDRF. Maybe next year Carolyn can also try to get Jenny's new band, Circo Paleo, for a weekend or two.
And Gypsophilia is one of my favorites. I'm so glad they got back together.

I got to see W&A 2 years ago at BARF, it is a very nice show. I can see them and Gypsophelia sharing a few songs.

I really enjoyed E Muziki as well. Is Wine and Alchemy part of what used to be E Muziki? I will make a point to see them.

What type of music is Brother?
And yes, Gypsophilia is great!
Wine and Alchemy is Mark Varelas' (of E Muzeki) the new band. Brother is tribal drums, pipes, digeridoo, etc. (go to their web site at www.brothermusic.com for more information.) Other bands with national and international reputations include Maidens IV, Icewagon FLU, Seven Nations, Barleyjuice, etc. etc. Just go to the official web site www.rennfest.com, under the Entertainment menu, to see who and when. It is going to be an exciting season with lots of great entertainment.

Looks like a great lineup. I wasn't trying to imply the line-up this year was lacking, only that I was going to miss several acts that had been there previously.
Rather than staring a new thread, I figured I would just post here.

yeah it seems like there are alot of gaps this year at the white hart. im going to miss my afternoon lineup that was there last season. but all in all for the price i cant complain. it was just nice to sit in one place and have a few bee stings and catch the rogues, the interpreters, and pyrates royal all back to back and over a again. all last season id hit there about 2 or 3 and was there til they kicked us out.

From what I can recall being mentioned on other (public) sources:
Cercamon was contacted about returning and never replied. Hey Nunnie Nunnie only had a few openings during the MDRF season, and all of them conflicted with openings the faire had. The Medieval Baebes are being "given a rest" this year - they will return in the future. However, to quote the Entertainment Director herself, "Sometimes contracting is a schedule conflict, but there are other reasons as well ... contracting is a private issue between performer and myself" (to which my personal addition would be "so don't flood the site with tons of "You just want to ruin our fun!!1!" messages )
I for one am very disappointed by all the open space on the White Hart schedule, but I see where much of said entertainment has been moved to the Boars Head. I'm sure there's somebody who'll say it's all a ploy to get all us Squatters to move out of the White Hart once in a while, but not me (I'll just grumble to myself for a few weeks and then get over it, just like I did when they put the benches in

Will, also notice that more of the space is filled in on the specific weekends schedules, and additional music for Irish, Celtic Music, and Octoberfest weekends is not yet listed. The general schedule is a lower bound. I certainly am not speaking for the powers that be, of course, but I wouldn't be surprised if there is more to come over the course of the Festival. The latest information for each weekend is available at customer service.

I love the name change, just had to get that out there.
As a group we typically tailgate every Saturday before cannon. Then we have the meet-n-greets every day at 11am at the Dragon Inn. Finally the DoRT's meet every day from noon to 2pm at the deck of O'Shucks for the Shooter Service.

Thank you for the compliment on the name change and look forward to introducing my husband Lord William the Black Dog of Vernay . If we do not get to the opening party we will see everyone at the Dragons Inn.
